Since i heard that few artists are experienceing virtual worlds for creative and networking aims, i thought i needed to go and see what’s going on.
The selected environment is Second life (SL).
I decided to do some sort of photo-reportage.
The best thing is that You can fly.
Oh, i can fly! Yes We can!
When You enter SL for the first time the SL staff (nice people) welcome You and answer kindly to questions, giving you any sort of tips.
SInce You are poor when You enter the world they assign You a new home without any renting fee for 2 weeks.
In the above picture, i am reflecting in my first SL home (i put a huge Bob poster in the room that was supposed to be my bedroom, but didn’t have money to buy a bed actually).
After 2 weeks of staying You will have to pay a rent or You will become homeless.
Second life money are the L$.
You can get L$ by buying them with real money. Ehmmm, not a good idea though.
I still have to check which other way You can get L$, maybe looking for a job or selling objects (or Ganja, Bob says).
Since i don’t have a job in RL, i wish i could get one in SL…
From Sunday, January 31, SpriteHat is virtually settled in Saltara (PU), Italy, for the exhibition that will be held from february 2010 at the Museo del Balì (Museo della Scienza).
The work, entitled “Simple Shape Generator” is a generative sketch realized in the processing environment (see snapshot on top of article), one of my earlier experiment made with generative algorithms. Very simple very shape.

In questo esperimento di immagine generativa (tecnica nata con lo sviluppo delle logiche computazionali di produzione), un sistema formale di regole viene modificato dall’interazione con l’ambiente (tracciamento del punto di luce più intenso) e da una variabile randomica al fine di generare immagini-processo.
Il generatore utilizza elementi grafici semplici per la produzione di un flusso visivo la cui complessità ed organizzazione vengono continuamente ri-definite in tempo reale e casuale.
Il “caso” entra definitivamente nel processo di creazione.

Year 8080: the beginning.
8080, codename “BOBO” is a series of totemic sculptures that celebrate the technological era.
I’m hardly working on the conceptual and material birth of Bobo: the beginning.
Bobo’s entities are half spiritual, half technological.
The first series is made up of few unique clay pieces; the height goes from around 20 cm (little ones) to 50 cm.
The next target will be to test different materials (resins and later metal) and to realize bigger models.
